New Hampshire Governor Signs Pro-Gas Appliance Legislation

On August 1, New Hampshire Governor Kelly Ayotte signed HB 428 into law, a win for the gas hearth industry. The new law prohibits municipalities from adopting changes to the state building code, ensuring a consistent standard statewide.

While HB 428 does not prevent local governments from enacting separate and restrictive ordinances, it does remove the option of using building codes to block the use of natural gas.  For our members, this means that towns can no longer use the state's official building code to block or create barriers for the installation of natural gas appliances.
